From July 22nd to August 5th, a team of Environmental Scientists from Loughborough University will be visiting Skye to conduct a research project that explores what types of litter persist on the island’s beaches in the modern day, and in what quantity. Surveys and cleans will take place around the island.
Raasay has published its Community Climate Action plan, along with the other five islands in the project. Scottish government has awarded Raasay £160k for capital spending on the projects identified in the action plan.
On 10th June, over 30 people converged on Raasay’s Walled Garden for a guided tour of this beautiful and productive area behind Raasay House and discussions about our food system looking at Growing, Getting or Sharing.
In mid-June, our MSP Kate Forbes asked to meet with us about the Healthy Homes for Skye & Lochalsh project. We had a good exchange of information, and Kate was interested and encouraging, with some supportive suggestions which are being explored.

Over 400 residents have completed the Healthy Homes survey – a magnificent response! Many thanks to everyone who has participated. The resident’ survey will close at midnight on Monday 17th April.
