We are pleased to confirm that we have been awarded capital funding for the Carbon Neutral Islands project on Raasay. The Scottish Government has given the community £160k to spend on capital based projects over the next year. This coincides with the launch of our Community Climate Action Plans, which contain the projects we will be using the capital on. If anyone would like to see the CCAP and the carbon audits which contributed, head to our webpagewhere you can find pdfs of them.
The Carbon Neutral islands Project is supporting six Scottish islands – Raasay, Great Cumbrae, Barra, Hoy, Islay and Yell – to become carbon neutral by 2040. All six have now reached the major milestone of publishing their Community Climate Action Plans.
This week, sailing vessel and floating Climate Adaption project Novara stopped by Raasay. Nigel and Veronica are touring the UK before they start sailing around the world visiting communities most impacted by climate change. They opened up their 60 foot adventure yacht to the public on Raasay’s newly constructed pontoon. Check out their page to find out more.
