Public Health Scotland wants to hear what you think about our food environment on Skye: what food is available and affordable to you, and how that shapes what you buy and eat.
Access to affordable, healthy, acceptable and sustainable food is essential for health. Currently our food environments do not support health, and climate change brings more challenges.
Public Health Scotland has designed a format for community workshops (called the ‘place standard tool’) to co-design possible futures to address climate change and enhance wellbeing generally. They have now adapted that workshop format for the food environment and want to test it in three places across Scotland.
NHS Highland is keen to host one of the pilots in the Skye/Raasay/Lochalsh area, so we have the opportunity to make our voice heard! NHS Highland needs to put in its bid on 6th November, and would like to hear from interested folks so as to make the case for our area to be one of the pilots. The workshops/conversations would hopefully be held in Skye, Lochalsh or Raasay between November 2025 and March 2026.
If you would like to take part, please contact sarah.bowyer@nhs.scot as soon as possible, and no later than Wednesday 5th November. You can join as a representative of an organisation (please include a short paragraph describing your organisation and why you want to be involved) or individually, or if you would like to be part of ReRoot/Skye Climate Action’s participation please copy me in: aomacl@tighgorm.scot
A bit more information here includes a nice little video clip.
