Scotland’s Agriculture Bill is going through parliament. It will set out how agricultural subsidies are paid post Brexit. Amendment 21 wants the purposes of agricultural subsidies to be defined in the bill at this stage, so that the bill ensures that agriculture moves to net-zero and nature-friendly farming. The Scottish Government had proposed a ‘purposes’ clause could be added later when the results of an expert panel had come out, but that has been delayed.
