Cllr Helen Crawford (Aird & Loch Ness) placed a motion before the full meeting of the Highland Council on Thursday 19th September calling for a radical overhaul of the way communities and the Highland Council are involved in the multitude of planning applications for wind farms and energy infrastructure. The motion includes calls for real-time live mapping of all energy infrastructure projects and an end to so-called “salami-slicing”, the process by which developers submit piecemeal applications, bit by bit, often masking the full scale and impact of developments. Her motion is supported by 46 community councils. You can read the full motion here.
The Council meeting ran out of time on 19th, so the motion will be discussed at a reconvened Council meeting on Monday 30th September.
