Highland Peoples’ Power, launched on 2nd November in Inverness, is a new Community Benefit Society set up to create a Highland Renewable Energy Company. It seeks to engage with people and organisations in the Highlands with the vision of ‘the majority of energy generation in the Highlands to be owned and managed by local communities, with 100% of the benefits distributed equitably across our region”.
The aims are to
– Reduce energy prices for residents
– Generate income to improve infrastructure, services and biodiversity
– Lower CO2 emissions and address the climate emergency.
