A steering group has been formed with local construction and energy expertise, input from HIE and Highland Council, and Skye Climate Action. Most of the group first met together in early September, and a core group has since progressed discussions to refine the scope for the project.
The plan is to carry out a household survey to establish data on the state of housing and energy use across Skye, Raasay and Lochalsh. This will provide a baseline for funding applications to start work to improve our housing stock to deliver warm, healthy homes and tackle the pressures of climate change and domestic energy costs.
It will be critical to communicate and work with communities and businesses throughout this process. Information will go out to a wide range of organisations this month, with invitations to join in with the project. Details to be confirmed.
