From 13th September to 8th October, the Highland and Island festival will celebrate the activity taking place across Highland, Orkney and Shetland to combat climate change and create sustainable, locally focused and vibrant communities. The Festival will culminate in the Highland Climate Conference in Inverness on 8th October.
We are retaining the core theme of the festival as being a celebration of localism. The themes being #thinklocal, #growlocal, #walklocal #sharelocal #belocal.
We are launching two rounds of funding for the Highlands & Islands Climate Festival this year. Funding opened on 19 June and will close on 11 July at 5pm. Please note that late applications will not be accepted.
We will again have our flat rate event contribution of £150 for events you may already be staging in your communities during the festival which can be included in our programme.
New for this year, we will be offering funding for marketplace style events in localities with a focus on bringing communities together. We would love to see community groups working together to develop and plan these marketplace events with support from our Community Development Officers, with climate conversations taking place which will then feed in to our conference on the 8th October 2025.
