Highland Local Development Plan : your input needed

The Highland Council is preparing a new Local Development Plan, with the first stage being evidence gathering. Development Plans guide the use and development of land within the Highland Council area, and set out how places will change and adapt in the future, with a long-term vision of where developments should and shouldn’t take place. A development plan also guides decisions on applications for planning permission.

The Highland Council is seeking views on a series of Evidence Papers covering housing, infrastructure, transport, climate change and energy, natural environment, coastline, and wellbeing. The papers set out the challenges that Highland is facing and what evidence is needed to address them. You are invited to say whether the evidence is sufficient and appropriate for preparing the development plan, and if not, why not.

You can make your comments on one or more of the Evidence Papers here. Deadline 30 March, midday.

The consultation also includes a Call for Sites where landowners, developers, and communities are invited to submit detailed site bids with justification, for housing, industry or mixed use development that will have a net benefit to Highland. Deadline 2 May, midday.
