The Scottish Government has published its covid-delayed update to the 2018 Climate Change Plan. This demonstrates the pathway to meeting Scotland’s emissions reduction targets over the period to 2032, and is also a strategic document on the green recovery from COVID-19.
This Plan update identifies elements of the 2018 plan that will be updated, and which new policies have been added since 2018. It sets out all the policies involved and includes updated emissions envelopes for each sector to reach the new targets. It also sets out how to make up for excess emissions due to the 2017 and 2018 targets having been missed. From May 2021 there will be annual, sector by sector progress reports.
