North Highlands and Islands Climate Action Hub information day (3rd February)

The North Highlands and Islands Climate Action Hub is a programme funded for three years by the Scottish Government. It is part of the next phase of the Scottish Government’s support for community climate action, following the end of Climate Challenge Fund grants.

Amanda Coghill of the Hub says: Our aim is to not only celebrate and support the many existing North Highland and Island climate projects that we are learning about through our mapping pilot phase, but also to help community groups form new projects and to encourage new groups to get involved. We want to make sure that climate action is embedded in community led projects all over the region.

Our task is to provide support and advice, which will signpost the community groups to the relevant agencies or networks. These will be able to help them both with the starting a project and also with the design and the delivery of the project. Community-led climate action can be take many forms – it might be a community bus, community growing gardens or even a group that promotes active travel through e-bike hire.

The hub team are excited to be holding their first information even on Thursday the 3rd of February. It will be an online event with two hosted sessions. With one session being held from 2-3pm and a second session the same evening at 7-8pm. During the event the team will be explaining all of our aims and how we intend to help local groups and organisations with either existing projects or with starting a new one. We will also welcome some guest speakers who are currently operating climate action projects. There will also be time for questions and answers so we can make sure you know everything you need to know about the hub.

The information event is free, and you can register for your place via Eventbrite.
