Responding to delays in the international negotiations to deliver a new global biodiversity framework, the Scottish Government has published its Biodiversity Strategy statement of intent. This sets the direction for a new biodiversity strategy which will respond to the increased urgency for action to tackle the twin challenges of biodiversity loss and climate change. The Scottish Government is also committing now to increasing protected areas for nature to at least 30% of Scotland’s terrestrial area by 2030.
