Healthy Homes report published

The Healthy Homes report provides the first community-led, all-tenure, detailed housing condition and energy efficiency information specific to Skye, Raasay & Lochalsh. It reveals that housing conditions here are notably worse than in The Highland Council area and Scotland as a whole. Some examples:

Only 12% of our homes are always warm enough in winter (81% in Scotland)
37% of our homes have mould (7% in The Highland Council area)
52% of our householders said poor insulation made their home hard to heat(10% in Scotland).

Householders said the main barriers to getting repairs and upgrades done on their homes are: it is too expensive (60%), grants aren’t available (29%) and builders aren’t available (28%).
