Campaign for a strong Global Plastics Treaty

A big reduction in plastic production is the only way we can start to tackle the plastic crisis. Last month, the UK took a major step forward in signing the Bridge to Busan declaration. This is a statement signed by 40 countries at the United Nations affirming the need for global cuts to plastic production. Pressure from the public helped to achieve this, but there is still a long way to go. The next round of Treaty negotiations is in November, and the plastic industry will be showing up in force to try and derail the negotiations.

Please sign the Greenpeace petition to demand an ambitious and strong global plastics treaty that will limit plastic production and use, including a cut in global plastic production by 40% by 2040. Click here to add your voice.

Civil society organisations in Scotland have written an open letter to the First Minister, calling on the Scottish Government to do more to support the UK position and commit to changes within Scotland, where an estimated 2 million plastic bottles are still being sold every day.
