Skye Climate Action invited communities across Skye to take part in a GOLDEN SKYE Challenge by accepting our offer of 100 daffodil bulbs (sourced from Peter Nyssen Bulb company) to cheer up their community after the dark days of winter.

The project aims are

  • to increase awareness of Skye Climate Action
  • to encourage recycling by asking communities to make a container/s out of recycled material
  • to encourage research into soil preparation
  • to encourage vegetable growing next season through a prize of organic vegetable seeds

Bulbs were distributed by the organiser Trish Rogers and her friends to 14 communities: Kyleakin, Breakish, Sconser, Portree, Staffin, Kilmuir, Uig, Dunvegan, Glendale, Struan, Carbost, Elgol, Isleornsay/ Camuscross and Armadale/ Ardvasar.

Hopefully Spring 2021 will herald a GOLDEN SKYE and a team of judges will be going round to find SKYE GOLDEN VILLAGE and award the valuable prize and trophy. There may even be a surprise from Peter Nyssen.
