Camustianavaig tattie patch

Shirley, Braes

A chance remark in an early lockdown conversation sowed the seeds of an idea that grew into the Camustianavaig tattie patch. Thanks to Roger’s generous offer to plough a flat piece of his croft ‘if people were interested’, eleven households came virtually together; first gathering seaweed, then preparing and planting potatoes, keeping our ambitions achievable. So far, so good with a good stand of plants and hoping that we can properly get together for a harvest “best tattie’ award, with enough produce to share with our neighbours who were not able to join in.
