The way we heat our homes, workplaces and other buildings is the third-largest cause of greenhouse gas emissions in Scotland. To meet Scotland’s legal obligation to reach ‘net zero,’ the heating systems in the vast majority of our buildings must be changed, because they produce CO2 and other gases contributing to climate change. The Scottish Government estimates that 89% of homes and 49% of non-domestic premises currently use “polluting heating”, while around 55% of homes do not reach a good level of energy efficiency.
The Highlands and Islands Climate Hub is hosting a community discussion about the consultation
Book here.
It’s a good opportunity to add your voice for greater energy efficiency and help for people to switch to non polluting heating. The consultation includes many of the options that we are calling for, following the Healthy Homes survey. You can contribute to the consultation here. You don’t have to answer all the questions. Consultation closes 8th March.
