Break free from plastic

Plastic pollution is a major problem in our world and yet it is still being churned out (with significant climate costs) and there are plans to manufacture even more in the coming years. SCA has become an associate member of the international ‘Break Free from Plastic‘ organisation, and their resources can help us to make the break, both locally and also perhaps joining with national or global events.

For this meeting during ‘Plastic-free July’ we’ll have 3 speakers with time for questions and answers. Inspired by these talks, we will then discuss how we can raise awareness, potential actions to break free of the ubiquitous unnecessary plastic in our lives.

Our speakers are:  Thomas Prentice on approaches to managing waste plastic, Anne MacLennan on climate impacts of plastic, and Emma and Amy from the Selkie Collective will bring ideas for avoiding plastic use in our daily lives.
