ReRoot Film Club: local marine-themed films

The July film evening will be themed to link with the Marine Litter open day on 27 July. Two short films based right here in Skye and Lochalsh illustrate the horrors of whale entanglement and the trial of a new fishing technique to avoid entanglement. The third film is yet to be confirmed.

We are delighted that local experts, Ellie and Zoe, will join us for a Q + A session after the films. Light refreshments will be available as people arrive before the screening starts at 6.15 pm prompt. Doors open from 5.30 pm. While not essential to book, it would be helpful to register on the SBS Events page (available from 10 July) or let me know that you plan to be there for catering purposes – and to ensure that you don’t miss out on a seat.

The 17th July screening  will complete the current series of ReRoot film evenings. All of the films have been good to watch and learn from. Some feel-good and some a bit more uncomfortable, but each followed by discussion picking up on good and less good points.

The plan is to run another series over the winter months, but more of that later. Do tell us about films you would recommend for these community events.
