Garlic, cucumbers and basil in Portree

Harriet, Portree

The garlic is grown from two heads of garlic that I was given many years ago. I call it Donald’s garlic. My broad beans grown from saved seed is doing better than the bought seed.

The tiny seedlings under plastic over plumbers’ pipes may be a second crop. We have already had lots of Japanese spinach, komatsuna and beetroot. I planted the beetroot where the komatsuna was as it is a brassica to lessen the trouble with club root.

Florence fennel and cucumbers grow well in the greenhouse. Coriander and a self-seeded tomato can also be seen.

Basil is in a fish box.
