DESCRIPTION:ReRoot is partnering with ClimavoreCIC to show the fish farming documentary Until the end of the World  at the Skye Bridge Studios 123 in Kyle. \nThis is free to attend\, but please register here as seats are limited. Doors are open from 5.30pm with nibbles available. The film will screen at about 6.15pm followed by discussion with viewers and ReRoot Climavore\, and Highland Community Waste Programme. Book here. \nUntil the end of the World was released in February this year. It investigates fish farming across three continents\, meeting local communities fighting against the expansion of fish farms. \nAquaculture is the fastest growing food industry in the world. It aspires to be a sustainable solution to feed a growing global population.  Although not featured in this documentary\, aquaculture is also growing in Scotland – and around Skye – providing ‘valuable jobs and income for the Scottish economy’. \nWhat relevance does the film have for our situation? We hope to have people with a range of perspectives taking part in the discussion\, so come along and join in.

Bright pink and hard to miss\, this is available 24 hrs and anything with a plug\, battery or cable can be recycled! \nPLEASE NOTE:\n– Recycle batteries\, vapes and lightbulbs separately.\n– If the bin is full or your item is too large for the container opening\, do not leave items next to the bin. The film aims to answer the question\, ‘How can we work together to create a fair\, healthy and sustainable food system?’ – a similar quest to ReRoot. Themes running through the film are: Environment\, Money and Fairness in the Food System\, Community\, Soil\, and Regenerative + Organic Farming. \nRooted is 50 minutes long\, so there’s time for another 30 minute video\, Paddock to Plate: A tale of disconnect.  This comes from an Australian physician linking lifestyle\, diet and health. DESCRIPTION:by Phil Knott \nWe are delighted that Highland and Islands Climate Hub has generously provided funding for Broadford & Strath Community Company to run Apple Day at Broadford Hall on Saturday 5th October from 2pm to 4pm. We hope to see as many of you there as possible. The event will be repeated at Achmore Hall on Saturday 12th October. There will be apple juicing\, fruit displays and help with identifying your apple varieties\, as well as a ReRoot market. \nCatering will be covered by the local Croileagan Gaelic nursery in return for donations. DESCRIPTION:Local tree seed-collecting sessions will take place every Wednesday throughout October – a chance to get out and about in the local area with like minded folk. The first session is Wednesday 2nd October from 10am – 12pm at Torrin\, collecting Hazel\, Birch\, Hawthorn and Rowan on the common grazings.
