DESCRIPTION:These films are shown at the Skye Bridge Studios in Kyle with snacks from SELF Health available on arrival (doors open from 5.30pm). Screening starts about 6.15pm and following the film(s) there is an opportunity to talk about them and to consider the relevance to our individual and community situations. \nOctober’s film is Rooted: Growing a Local Food Ecosystem and is set in Dumfries and Galloway. The film aims to answer the question\, ‘How can we work together to create a fair\, healthy and sustainable food system?’ – a similar quest to ReRoot. Themes running through the film are: Environment\, Money and Fairness in the Food System\, Community\, Soil\, and Regenerative + Organic Farming. \nRooted is 50 minutes long\, so there’s time for another 30 minute video\, Paddock to Plate: A tale of disconnect.  This comes from an Australian physician linking lifestyle\, diet and health. DESCRIPTION:by Phil Knott \nWe are delighted that Highland and Islands Climate Hub has generously provided funding for Broadford & Strath Community Company to run Apple Day at Broadford Hall on Saturday 5th October from 2pm to 4pm. We hope to see as many of you there as possible. The event will be repeated at Achmore Hall on Saturday 12th October. There will be apple juicing\, fruit displays and help with identifying your apple varieties\, as well as a ReRoot market. \nCatering will be covered by the local Croileagan Gaelic nursery in return for donations. Please bring fruit themed sweet and savoury things for them if you can! Colin Parsons will return with the fruit press\, do bring your apples and some containers for the juice! I will run the apple display\, so bring along as many varieties as you can for folk to see. I will also cover the information tables and be selling fruit trees through Drumfearn Trees. Items suitable for reuse are removed from the waste stream and taken to their Reuse Workshop to undergo a thorough testing\, cleaning and refurbishment process\, including PAT testing\, ready for sale. \nSome items are kept for repair and re-use on Skye. \nNew – Additional Electrical Recycling option!\nVery happy to announce that we now have a ‘small electricals’ Bring Bank Bin located in Kyleakin car park\, next to the clothing recycling container. Bright pink and hard to miss\, this is available 24 hrs and anything with a plug\, battery or cable can be recycled! \nPLEASE NOTE:\n– Recycle batteries\, vapes and lightbulbs separately.\n– If the bin is full or your item is too large for the container opening\, do not leave items next to the bin. DESCRIPTION:Drop off your unwanted domestic electrical appliances – large or small\, anything with a plug or battery – at Kyleakin Community Hall  between 11 am and 1 pm. \nPLEASE DO NOT DROP OFF ITEMS OUTWITH THESE TIMES. \nItems will be collected by ILM Highland and either fully recycled or selected for reuse. Items suitable for reuse are removed from the waste stream and taken to their Reuse Workshop to undergo a thorough testing\, cleaning and refurbishment process\, including PAT testing\, ready for sale. \nSome items are kept for repair and re-use on Skye. \nNew – Additional Electrical Recycling option!\nVery happy to announce that we now have a ‘small electricals’ Bring Bank Bin located in Kyleakin car park\, next to the clothing recycling container. Bright pink and hard to miss\, this is available 24 hrs and anything with a plug\, battery or cable can be recycled! \nPLEASE NOTE:\n– Recycle batteries\, vapes and lightbulbs separately.\n– If the bin is full or your item is too large for the container opening\, do not leave items next to the bin. Instead\, meet the ILM Highland van at one of the monthly drop off sessions at Kyleakin Community Hall.
