SUMMARY:Ostaig beach litter survey and community beach clean
DESCRIPTION:Sleat Nature Group’s next Marine Litter Survey of Ostaig Beach is on Sunday 6 April. \nCome and help survey and document the litter that is drowning our beaches! \nMeet on Ostaig beach\, Sleat at 09.30 am. \nWear appropriate clothing & footwear and bring gloves.  Caution: the path down to the beach is steep and slippery in places. Care needed. \nThe survey is part of Loughborough University’s 50 Years of Litter on Skye project\, and our qualitative and quantitive results will feed data into that project and to the Marine Conservation Society/Scottish Islands Foundation surveys. \nThe survey will be followed by a COMMUNITY BEACH CLEAN of the entire beach\, from 1-3pm. All welcome!

SUMMARY:ReRoot films club: Xtrillion
DESCRIPTION:Xtrillion\, documentary about the densest accumulation of ocean plastic on the planet. \nDoors open 5:30 for nibbles. Discussion afterwards \nMuch of today’s food and drink is encased in plastic – and most of that is single-use. Sadly\, far too much finds its way into the oceans where huge accumulations\, such as The Great Pacific Garbage Patch are found. X Trillion follows an all-woman crew sailing 3\,000 miles across the Pacific Ocean to investigate this anthropogenic horror. Nevertheless\, the film is billed as ‘a story of hope\, filled with life\, magic and a call to action that burns with optimism.’
