SUMMARY:Bracadale Beach Blitz
DESCRIPTION:The Scottish Coastal Clean Up project returns to Skye\, this time to make a further attempt at a Bracadale Beach Blitz (see poster below). Hopefully they will arrive on Thursday 8th\, with the boat to be based at the pontoons at Portnalong\, with skips there and at Harlosh. The overall objective of the two days will be to use the boat to remove as much marine litter as possible from the more remote beaches and islands in the loch\, which are difficult to access in any other way. The precise locations that we will be working on will be almost entirely weather dependent\, so we will set up a special WhatsApp group for everyone who wants to be involved on the day\, so that you know where to come and help.  Please contact us at skye.beachcleans@gmail.com or via the FB Page if you would like to get involved. \nFriday afternoon and evening we will also be organising an Open House at the primary School in Struan to display marine litter artwork and information\, to demonstrate rope mat making (Shore to Floor)\, provide refreshments\, and to bring together all the people from local\, regional and national organisations who have come together to contribute to this exercise. These will include Skye Beach Cleans ourselves\, Scottish Islands Federation’s Marine Litter Working Group\, the Scottish Coastal Clean Up project\, Keep Britain Tidy\, MY Group Ltd (the recycling company) and others. Food will be available between 1700-2000 at the Crofters Bite just across the road! \nDon’t forget that if anyone would like help and support in organising a clean in their own area\, we’d be happy to help!  Just drop us a note to skye.beachcleans@gmail.com.

SUMMARY:Uigshader Living Forest Project: Peatland Restoration info day
DESCRIPTION:by Eileen Allan \nUigshader Living Forest Project (ULFP) is in the process of rehabilitating a former clear-felled Sitka Forest into a diverse native community woodland. This year we have a couple of projects\, that SCA Newsletter readers might be interested in. First is our ongoing commitment of planting 30\,000 trees\, which we are in our final 10\,000 this spring. Second is our test peatland restoration area\, in which we are looking into low-cost\, low-impact\, DIY peatland restoration solutions. This could be of particular interest to croft holders wanting to make a positive change on their land. \nOur community information day will look at practical methods of peatland restoration. Soup\, tea and coffee will be provided.  For more information click here\,  email Uigshader@gmail.com or call 07596096540.

SUMMARY:Conversations of Consequence: Raasay workshop
DESCRIPTION:by Tom Lusink \nYou are invited to a unique workshop on Raasay:  Conversations of Consequen \nThroughout the day\, we will be exploring several themes\, each of which relates to the keystones of Culture. \n\nWhat is Culture – (a generative Culture with a capital C)? How is it created? What are the building blocks of a healthy\, creative\, dynamic culture? and why is it not just important\, but essential we make time and space to reflect on and nurture these different aspects – especially when it seems easier not to!\nHow do we identify what’s most important (our values)\, creating clarity\, consensus\, building (or repairing) trust and understanding whilst doing so – making the best use of our skills\, knowledge and resources?\nHow do we perceive change and embrace it?\nWhat do we do when faced with conflict? What is the point of conflict\, and how might we learn from it for mutual benefit whilst maintaining respect for our values\, and those of others?\n\nThese things\, the questions and group discussions will shape the day and make it relevant to those who attend. \nExpert facilitator\, Paul Howell who is running the course says “I promise it’ll be fun and that everyone will leave having gained some powerful new ways of understanding the world\, some new or upgraded communication skills\, and useful tools for shaping the future\, however they see fit.” \nIf you’d like to join us\, Raasay is a 25 minute ferry ride from Skye\, where you’ll share the day connecting\, and having conversations that count along with those who live and work on Raasay\, who inspired this event. \nYou’ll have a home grown / freshly baked lunch\, discounted accommodation at Raasay House Hotel. Plus\, on Sunday the 13th  Patricia Carvalho\, has offered a guided walk up the local peak of Dun Caan or along to Hallaig\, depending on the weather. \nSee Facebook Event Page\, or to book by email scroll down to the end of this page. \nContact: Tom Lusink tom.cniraasay@outlook.com
