SUMMARY:Earth Day Parade\, Inverness
DESCRIPTION:On Earth Day\, people will gather in Inverness to express concerns about the latest IPCC report (March 2023) which boils down to one message – act now\, or it will be too late. \nEarth Day is an annual event that celebrates and promotes environmental awareness and the need to protect our natural resources for future generations\, and it seems a perfect way of highlighting this in Inverness. \nThe event will be fun\, friendly and creative\, and a chance to meet-like minded people and forge alliances. \nDetails are being finalised but likely to include a multi-group march and rally celebrating Earth Day\, possibly gathering at 1pm at Inverness Townhouse\, High Street/Castle Street and slowly marching to Falcon Square. At Falcon Square we will have a rally with speeches on local/global  biodiversity issues. Then with a fun but poignant finish to the rally with a flash mob style dance to ‘Staying Alive’ – no experience necessary\, just a good sense of humour! DESCRIPTION:Four days of action where people from all groups and movements will gather throughout Westminster and at the Houses of Parliament to demand action from politicians on the climate emergency. \nMore than 70 organisations are supporting – including Greenpeace\, Friends of the Earth and PCS Union. \n\nFamily friendly\nAccessible and welcoming\nCreative\nEngaging\n\nThe streets will be transformed with People’s Pickets outside government departments and a diverse programme of speakers\, performers and workshops\, awash with colour and culture. There will be art and music\, talks from experts\, places to listen and engage\, and activities for the kids. \n\nFriday 21st – Unite to Survive. Westminster is filled with flags\, banners and people.\nSaturday 22nd – Earth Day. An enormous\, celebration & family-friendly march for biodiversity!\nSunday 23rd – Running Out of Time! SUMMARY:Just Transition Commission: Final Report Launch event
DESCRIPTION:Scottish Parliament has committed to ambitious emissions reductions targets that will require sweeping changes to many parts of our day-to-day lives.  Scotland’s climate change legislation recognises the importance of a just transition\, so that emissions are reduced in ways that are fair and that leave no-one behind. To help to meet these objectives\, the Just Transition Commission was established in 2019\, to deliver practical recommendations to Ministers by March 2021. \nThis event marks the launch of the Just Transition Commission’s final report. Participants will find out about the key themes of the report\, its recommendations and next steps. They will also have an opportunity to pose questions to the Commissioners. \nRegister for the launch event here.
